Viral Diseases


There are about 200 viruses known to cause disease in humans; several viruses affect our respiratory system. The respiratory viruses that most commonly circulate worldwide as endemic or epidemic agents are influenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza viruses, metapneumovirus, rhinovirus, coronaviruses, adenoviruses, and bocaviruses. The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic is the defining global health crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced since World War Two.

State-of-the-art laboratory diagnosis utilizes tests for SARS-CoV-2 RNA, viral antigens, and human antibodies. Molecular, mostly PCR-based tests are regarded the most sensitive and accurate tools for detecting a SARS-CoV-2 infection and the associated disease Covid-19.



  • SARS-CoV-2 MULTI Tests will be available for in vitro diagnostics and for research applications. The tests enable RT-qPCR-based quantification of two segments of the SARS-CoV-2 genome and a human control RNA. They are compatible with extracted RNA and crude saliva samples as well.
    The list of innovative products comprises RT-qPCR-based tests for the quantification of CK-19 mRNA in RNA samples.

  • Detecting Rare Cells in blood and other body fluids can be a real challenge. OncoLab provides research tools that make hunting for rare circulating endothelial cells (CEC), a simple diagnostic test.
    OncoLab’s CEC test is based on fluorescent immunostaining of endothelial cells after enrichment from blood samples. State-of-the-art biomarkers coupled with enhanced scanning optical systems powered by artificial intelligence enable convenient and efficient research of CEC.

The tests will enable RT-qPCR-based quantification of viral RNA and a human control RNA. They are compatible with extracted RNA and crude saliva samples as well.
    Tailored tests for the detection of certain SARS-CoV-2 variants are under development as well.
